Barne (2017) 7’50’’
For percussion and electronics
(Jabi Alonso, percussionist)

Barne, (“Within, Inside”) where the most intimate feelings coexist in dialogue between extremes, from love, to pain, rage or helplessness in the face of violence.
The work is structured like human relationships, with sounds that overlap in conflict, reaching simple and poetic solutions, in a desire to achieve dreams.
“Haize”, “Argi”, “Aske” are the words in the Basque language, which the percussionist says, or rather, shouts in the piece Barne, they mean “Air”, “Light”, “Freedom”, words, which are rights and actions of the intangible, for which each person, each woman fights to conquer or maintain each day.

Fyr (2016) 7’55’’

Fyr meaning “Lighthouse” in Swedish. It’s a piece inspired by the voice as based material. On the one hand as a communicative language, the language as a border, text and their meaning and understanding; on the other hand the sound emanating from the words, the musicality of its own with different speeds, pitchs, expressions giving us strengh. I explored in this work the relationships emerging as pure sound and I searched a constructive relationship between the internal and outside sound, where the possibilities, the stimuli of nature linked with technology resources produced and processed in studio. In Fyr the voice is shell and path of an elusive meaning that caresses the memory, encouraging from listening to cross utopian islands.
Multi-channel work composed in Studio Alpha in VICC, Visby (Sweden), during my residence in Spring 2016.

Zuriñe F. Gerenabarrena (1965) studied composition with C.Bernaola and Franco Donatoni.

The red sound bench

The red sound bench is a project promoted by the Municipality of San Vito al Tagliamento. It was born from the collaboration between Audiorama – Swedish Center for Spatial Sonorities and the Spazioersetti gallery of Udine.

On 8 March 2021, on the occasion of Women’s Day, two twin benches were inaugurated at the same time, one at the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm and the permanent one here in San Vito.

The sound bench (original name: “Ljudbänken”) is an idea of Audiorama, conceived as a touring public sound art installation. Made for the first time in 2017 on the occasion of a three-year public art project, it has been exhibited in various places in the city of Stockholm.

The original bench design is by Jonas Wahlström. © Mattias Ek / Stockholms stad (CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 SE).
